Tuition assessment is based on several factors including a student’s campus. Other factors are a student's residency, level (undergraduate, graduate) and classification (freshman, sophomore, junior, senior, graduate).

Yes, students that reside outside the State of Mississippi (non-resident) are charged both tuition and required fees and a non-resident fee each semester of enrollment.
Students admitted to the Online Education campus do not intend to take classes on any one of MSU’s physical campuses at any point during their academic career. Therefore, Online Education students are not assessed non-resident tuition.
There is a differential cost of instruction between colleges. Having one flat rate (1) disadvantages students who are in lower cost programs, and (2) reduces higher cost programs’ ability to effectively support the quality of instruction.
If a student is classified as a freshman in terms of hours, they are not charged a College Fee. However, if a first-time student has enough hours to be classified as a sophomore or higher, they will be charged the applicable College Fee for their College.
Note: The timing of a student’s classification change may mean the College Fee is applied in the month following the tuition assessment.
College fees are not being assessed to freshman (0 to 29 hours of credit earned) since their programs are primarily general education courses.
No, students will be charged for the College Fee for their primary major.

The original College Fee will be removed, and the new College fee will be applied.
College Fees will not be charged in Summer 2025 but will begin in Fall 2025 and include future summer terms.
Yes. College fees will be waived for employees who submit their tuition remission eForm and meet eligibility requirements.
Yes, courses offered through the Online Education campus may also incur distance fees. These fees, if applicable, will be assessed regardless of your campus.
