DIRECT DEPOSIT
Commonly Asked Questions and Answers

Q.
WHAT ARE SOME OF THE ADVANTAGES OF DIRECT DEPOSIT
A. Convenience is the most obvious benefit; however, added interest earnings, safety and confidentiality are additional advantages. Direct Deposit is the safest way to get your money in your account without having to worry about lost, stolen or damaged checks.
Q.
HOW WILL I KNOW MY BANK ACCOUNT HAS BEEN CREDITED?
A. Your monthly statement from your financial institution will provide a record of deposits to your account, including this payroll direct deposit.  However, if you would like more immediate confirmation, you may verify your deposit using any of the various options offered by your bank.  These options may include:  deposit inquiry through an ATM machine (several are located in the Colvard Student Union Building); telephone infoline; on-line computer banking; direct telephone call to your bank; etc.
Q.
HOW WILL I RECEIVE THE INFORMATION THAT WOULD NORMALLY BE CONTAINED ON MY PAYCHECK STUB, SUCH AS GROSS PAY, DEDUCTIONS AND NET PAY ?
A.
This same information will continue to be available to you.  You will have the option to choose one of two methods for distribution of this information.  A secure internet access through Intranet (Banner Web) provides this information and much more at any time (7 days a week; 24 hours a day).  Your other option would be to receive a printed confirmation that can be picked up by your department at the same time paychecks are available.  We would encourage you to try the internet access.  Using this method would be more efficient and would provide the university opportunity for cost savings. Q.
I CONSIDER MY PERSONAL BANKING TO BE CONFIDENTIAL.  WILL THIS BE COMPROMISED BY DIRECT DEPOSIT?
A.
Absolutely not.  Direct Deposit is one of the most confidential methods of processing a paycheck.  Checks processed  via a traditional payroll can pass through as many as twelve persons before reaching your account.  Direct Deposit practically eliminates this problem .
